Overview

Much of the data we collect on learners participating in our CPD interventions is qualitative. However, proving the true clinical value of our education necessitates sound quantitative analysis. Due to the incomplete, often messy structure of evaluation and clinical datasets, statistics are often conducted blindly or based on gut feelings. This presentation aims to introduce the importance of quantitative analysis in revealing critical insights into CPD effectiveness. An overview of data types, data cleaning, and analysis methods will be provided. Pitfalls such as ceiling effects, incomplete data, and confounding will also be discussed. Particular topics include how to handle Likert data, imputation and analysis of unusual data, and basic statistical methods.
