This webinar will feature presentations from the oral abstract presenters who won awards for their work at the SACME 2026 Annual Meeting.

  • Presentation 1: Holly Harris and Sophie Soklaridis, PhD, "There's Something Magic About It: Exploring the Value of an Arts-Based Method in CME/CPD"

    Recipient of the Fox Award for (Best) Research Presentation

    The Fox Award honors the research of Dr. Robert D. Fox, University of Oklahoma, who has contributed greatly to the literature in the field of professional continuing education. Established in 2001, the Fox Award is presented for the best RICME presentation and is judged with respect to its methodology and impact or relevance to the advancement of the field of CME/CPD.

  • Presentation 2: Adam Gavarkovs, PhD, "Energizing Team Learning: Exploring Motivation in Primary Care Teams"

    Recipient of the SACME Award for Best Early Career Researcher

    The SACME Award for Best Early Career Researcher is presented to the individual whose RICME presentation at a SACME Meeting is judged the best with respect to its methodology and impact or relevance to the advancement of the field of CME/CPD. Definition of early career: 1. Trainees of any kind (e.g., health professionals, MDs, Masters, PhDs); and 2. Those within 5 years of completing a terminal degree.

  • Presentation 3: Ashley D'Amour, "Developing a Process to Standardize Responding to and Mitigating Bias Identified in CPD Program Evaluations"

    Recipient of the SACME Award for Best Oral Presentation

    This award is presented for the outstanding oral presentation in the categories of program evaluation, evidence-informed perspectives and best practice at the annual meeting and is judged with respect to its contribution and impact on advancing continuing professional development.

  • Presentation 4: Maximillian Morris, MSPH and Shannon Hanson, MSW, "Engagement Patterns in Regularly Scheduled Series: A Mixed-Methods Analysis of Super-Users and Interrupted Learners in a Rural Primary Care Telementor"

    Recipient of the SACME Award for Best Oral Presentation/Early Career Educator

    Introduced in 2023, this award is presented to the individual whose oral presentation in the categories of program evaluation, evidence-informed perspectives, and best practices at a SACME meeting is judged the best with respect to its contribution and impact on advancing continuing professional development. Definition of early career: (1) Training of any kind (e.g., health professionals, MDs, Masters, PhDs) and (2) Those within five years of completing a terminal degree.

Holly Harris
Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH)

Holly Harris is a Research Coordinator at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and PhD candidate specializing in co-production, Recovery Colleges, social movements, and participatory-action research. Holly leverages her lived experiences of mental health system encounters and Master’s in Critical Disability Studies to ensure that many perspectives, including lived-experience perspectives, are meaningfully engaged in mental health education, research, and programming.

Adam is a Research Associate in Continuing Professional Development at the University of British Columbia. He leads a program of research in continuing professional development, currently focusing on team-based care, technology-enabled learning, and provider well-being.


Ashley D'Amour

Ashley is a Coordinator with the Continuing Education and Professional Development (CEPD) Unit at NOSM University in Ontario, Canada. She has been part of the CEPD team for four years, supporting planning committees with accreditation and the delivery of CPD programs.

Shannon Hanson, MSW, is a Senior Program Manager for Education at the Weitzman Institute, where she oversees the planning and implementation of multiple continuing education initiatives for health care professionals nationwide. In this role, she manages the full lifecycle of diverse educational programs, collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, and leads and mentors teams to ensure high-quality, impactful learning experiences.
