Traveling to Canada
American citizens, including American-Canadian citizens, must carry proper identification and meet the basic requirements to enter Canada. You do not need a Canadian passport, a Canadian visa or an eTA to enter Canada if you are traveling with a valid U.S. passport with an expiration date of at least 6 months past travel dates.

Immigration: Customs Border Crossing Requirements
Montréal is 75 kilometres (46 miles) from the U.S. Border and is on the Trans-Canada Highway. Canada uses the metric system, so speeds are indicated in kilometers (100 km/h = 62 mph) and gas is sold in liters (3 3/4 liters = 1 US gallon). In Montréal it is prohibited to turn right at a red light, or to use a hand-held cell phone while driving.
